The Center for Hope is a new addition to Wintersville Methodist Church featuring a full-size basketball court, multi-purpose event space with raised stage, commercial kitchen, rentable meeting rooms and more amenities for the community.

This historic expansion of our church is not only for our congregation—it is for other groups and organizations to use in ways that benefit our community.

For over 185 years, Wintersville Methodist Church has existed to promote our core values, such as, honoring Christ, worshipping meaningfully, welcoming all people, and serving our community. Believing for several years as a church that God had called us to take a major step forward in ministry and outreach, but not knowing exactly how—property adjacent to our church was anonymously purchased and donated to us in 2015.

Plans were carefully developed, guided by our Church Vision: to serve as a beacon of Christian love, compassion, and hope to our world. A physical expansion would provide space for fellowship, recreation, new ministries and community outreach initiatives, and a comprehensive update to our original 100-year-old building would improve accessibility and address areas facing deterioration.

Construction began on the $3.6M Center for Hope in Fall 2018 thanks to the generosity of our own church members and some community members as well. This beautiful new facility was completed in February 2020, and we experienced a wonderful Celebration ("grand opening") weekend February 21-23, 2020. Unfortunately, things came to a screeching halt because of the Covid pandemic a few weeks later. Yet even though Covid altered our plans and slowed down our momentum, the Center for Hope has gained back momentum ever since and is being utilized more and more by the congregation, school children, the community, families, and other groups. We are looking forward to continual expansion and use of the Center for Hope for the good of our church, our community and the upbuilding of God's kingdom.
