Mission, Vision & Core Values

WMC Mission Statement:

"Connect with God - Grow in Faith - Serve in Love"

WMC Vision Statement:

"To serve as a beacon of Christian love, compassion and hope to our world."

Core Values play a crucial role in guiding and shaping the identity and mission of a church community. They serve as the foundation for the beliefs, principles, and behaviors that define a church's culture and guide its decisions and actions.

Our Core Values are meant to create a shared sense of purpose, bringing our members together in their common pursuit of faith, love, and service.

The Core Values of Wintersville Methodist Church provide a moral compass and a framework for making choices that align with the teachings of the Bible and the core tenets of the faith. They help our church community prioritize efforts and resources towards activities that reflect our convictions and contribute to the spiritual growth and well-being of our members.

Our Core Values are meant to create a shared sense of purpose, bringing our members together in their common pursuit of faith, love, and service.

We will honor our Lord in all that we practice and teach.

Service

Ministry Staff

Senior Pastor

Rev. Dr. Clint Quillen, Jr.

Rev. Dr. Clint Quillen, Jr.
Pastor Clint and his family were appointed to WMC in July 2000 and he loves being the pastor here. He believes, “It is such a blessing and privilege to be in ministry together with such a wonderful church family.” Words from the apostle Paul written centuries ago to the church at Rome reflect Pastor Clint’s feelings regarding the WMC congregation today. “I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now” (Romans 1:3-5). There truly is a partnership in ministry at WMC between the staff, lay persons, and the pastor, and Pastor Clint is so thankful to be a part of this team. Pastor Clint’s formal schooling includes majoring in Christian Ministries at Malone College, attending Columbia Biblical Seminary, graduating with a Master of Divinity degree from Ashland Theological Seminary, and working diligently to complete his Doctor of Ministry degree in Apologetics from Southern Evangelical Seminary. Pastor Clint is a dedicated husband, father, and “Poppa” who loves his family very much. He and his wife, Ann, have been married for 39 years and he is grateful for her partnership in life, as well as in ministry. They have three grown sons, three lovely daughters-in-law, and eight wonderful grandchildren. And pastor Clint & Ann feel so blessed that they all live locally! Playing disc golf together is a favorite family pastime and Pastor Clint is proud of the fact that he even wins occasionally! Accepting God’s gift of salvation at age 17 at church camp, Pastor Clint’s life was forever changed. He believes strongly in the truth of God’s Word, the unconditional love of Christ, and in God’s call upon each of our lives to receive His grace, embrace His love, and live a life of love and service for God and others. Believing faithful churches and individual Christians are to be characterized by GROWTH, COMPASSION, and HOPE, three of his favorite scriptures express this so well. “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness” (Colossians 2:6-7), “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4), and “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13). May the message of these verses be fulfilled in your life as well.

Church Secretary

Susan Matics

Susan Matics
Susan has been working at the church for 17 years as the secretary. She grew up in church, but was strengthened by faith in the Lord in her early 20’s. She loves her role in ministry as secretary of WMC, and is grateful to serve the Lord through her work here at the church. She has been married to her husband Jerry for 38 years and has two married adult children, three grandchildren and another on the way. She enjoys spending time with her family, babysitting her grandchildren and watching and cheering on the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team.

Director of Youth Ministries

Tiffany Manley

Tiffany Manley
“Tif” has been in full time youth ministry since 2000. She has been in Ministry here at WMC since 2008. After growing up in Jefferson County, Ohio she moved to North Carolina where she met her wonderful husband of 25 years, Jeff. After many years in full time ministry in Clayton, NC, Tif felt like God was calling her back home to serve. Tif loves our youth (and they love her!) and what she enjoys most is going on mission trip outings and Lakeside Institute. She enjoys meeting young people where they are, journeying with them, and seeing them use their spiritual gifts to help build God’s kingdom. She is both blessed and proud to be serving as youth pastor in the community in which she grew up. She loves all of the people at WMC and enjoys letting out her “inner child” as she serves God by interacting with the youth. Tif enjoys watching Syracuse basketball, spending time with family, and hanging out with friends. In her words, her most favorite things in the world are: "my husband, Jeffy, our daughter Emily and our granddaughter Avery."

Director of Children's Ministry

Kristen Starkey

Kristen Starkey
Kristen joined our ministry staff in January 2024 and we are so thankful to have her serving in this role at WMC. Please read her introduction in her own words. "Hi everyone! My name is Kristen Starkey, I am the new children’s director, which means I’m taking over Kingdom Kids for Miss Jess. I know how much you all love her and will miss her (myself included-she’s one of my best friends!) She is still traveling with her family but is planning to pop in when she is back in town. I want to take a minute to introduce myself for those of you who don’t know me. I'm a devoted Christian, wife, and mother. I have been married to my husband, Cole, since 2013, and we have been blessed with 3 incredible children: Cameron, Lillie, and Sadie. I have a doctorate degree in Physical Therapy and used to work full time in the profession. Over the last several years, the Lord has called me into a slower, more simplified life that I now know was to foster my home ministry and to grow His kingdom through the children at our church. We live on our 26-acre multigenerational homestead, in Bloomingdale, with a few cows, some pigs, and a lot of chickens. We have been a home school family since 2020, and teaching has become one of my passions. I have taught not only my own kids, but also children in Sunday school and in our local home school co-op. I have been a follower of Jesus for many years, and I look forward to sharing my love of the Lord with your children at the Holy Spirit's direction."

Directors of Worship Ministries

Wayne & Cynthia Lytle

Wayne & Cynthia Lytle
Wayne and Cynthia serve as music ministry leaders for Wintersville Methodist Church. Together, they have over twenty-one years of professional music ministry experience. Both began serving in music ministry at a very young age, participating in youth and adult choirs, worship teams and praise bands at their respective churches in Youngstown and Columbus Ohio. They have been blessed to minister across the country and even outside of the country. Together they have 4 great kids… Jackson, Nina, Wayne, and Carter. As a family, they enjoy movie nights and time spent with other family members.

Church Leadership

In Ephesians 4 God's Word speaks about church leadership. "So Christ Himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up . . . 16  From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." Romans 12 also emphasizes "the ministry of all believers". "In Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently."

WMC went through a major time of transition in 2023 and along with various changes, we also adjusted our leadership model. Eleven church members were chosen BY the congregation to SERVE the church and community as members of the WMC Church Council. We are so grateful for this diverse group of faithful disciples who are willing to give so much of their time, energy, skills, experience, and leadership to help us as a church continually move forward to be all that God has called us to be. A list of our Church Council members and our newly developed WMC By-Laws are available from the church office.
